Roma and Districts goes back to the Roaring Twenties
Roma and Districts Toastmasters Club looked back to the Roaring Twenties in recognition of the era in which Ralph Smedley founded this great organisation. The special occasion was marked by the presentation of a 40 year badge to David Bowden. David entertained members and guests with his speech about the founding of this great international organisation and more uproarious entertainment was provided by the mini debate ‘Women were the weaker sex’. The teams were: Ray Howson, Geroge Mehay, and Dougal Edgar up against Jeanette Coonan, Christina Waldron and Jan Walden. You guess which side was which! Visitors and guests for the evening included Christina Hughes, Lynette Bowden, Daniel Cooonan and Sunshine Coast Past Member Kevin Bailey.
looking dapper David – not a sign of purple anywhere 🙂
That’s what being a Distinguished Toastmaster is all about.
Well done David on your 40 years of service and to the club for conducting what would have been a truly memorable meeting.
Oh to be a fly on the wall during the debate!
Don’t Jeanette & David make a dashing & debonair couple?
Cheers
