Hervey Bay Toastmasters Club held their Changeover last night with an in-house “Pauper’s Souper Supper” featuring Homemade Lentil Soup, Pumpkin Soup, Potato and Leek Soup and Minestrone. All were made with love by some of our Toastmasters. The soup was accompanied by crusty french bread, and very tasty cheese platters and relishes. We were all so full from eating multiple soups, bread and cheese, and dessert time came all too quickly. We had delicious homemade apple crumble with custard and cream, and some lovely fresh fruit.
As if that wasn’t enough, we had some marvellous entertainment with a Maori Tale by Janine Pohe and a “Why is it so” presentation by Adam Watson, about buttered bread falling onto the floor buttered side down, yet a cat always lands on its feet.  If you put the two together you have a never-ending spiral effect with neither reaching the ground.
Lorraine and Ken Lee presented a brief skit on Computer terminology, as well as an Interpretive Reading about an American Southern Belle and her Beau. The formalities of the Induction were very well done by our new Area 10 Director Marjory Hansen, and then the annual awards were presented.
Karen Jurss DTM, our incoming President, was awarded the Toastmaster of the Year, and I think she was somewhat thrilled with the award. Karen was also presented with her 15-year pin on the night. An enjoyable evening doing what our club does best-celebrate in style, especially for the hoboes that were there.
