Thanks to Janet Coleman noticing District 46’s Travelling Gavel, our District has decided to embrace the idea and have our own Travelling Gavel.
Glasshouse Mountains Toastmasters Club has donated our Travelling Gavel in recognition of Stella Etherington and her commitment to Toastmasters over many years. Past District Governor Barrie Fuller has had a friend make it.
What is our Travelling Gavel?
It is a gavel that will move throughout our District each year. The gavel is Huon Pine and the base is Black Wood.
Why have it?
Its objective is for more people to share their Toastmasters experiences, to meet new people and of course to have fun.
How does it work?
Our Travelling Gavel will be commencing its journey in Nambour Toastmasters Club on the 4th March. Each Year on the 1st July it will start from the District Governor’s home club.
How to Kidnap it?
- President contacts the Vice President Education of the club where gavel is.
- Asks for at least 3 members of the visiting club to be on the agenda.
- Three or more members of a club visit the club that has the Travelling Gavel.
- Visiting club takes Travelling Gavel to their club, fills in log book and informs webmaster where Travelling Gavel will be residing till its next capture.
What will you gain?
Fellowship, fun and a sharing of skills and ideas with another club.
