What about everyone getting on public transport during Toastmasters week and giving impromptu speeches and table topic sessions?
So scary I know, but if there were a few of you together it wouldn’t be too bad.
- If we had a bunch of flyers, or invitations, or even just the website on a scrap of paper to hand out I think we would gain soooo many members!
- Can you imagine it… there you are peacefully enjoying your train/bus/ferry ride to work and all of a sudden someone with a Toastmasters badge on stands up and requests your attention:
- Good morning everyone, Can you help me? I am a Toastmaster and I am practicing a speech for Toastmasters Week, if you will indulge me and maybe give me some feedback on my speech please? (here’s where your team members say “Yes, sure, OK” in appropriately loud voices)
- Then you give your best speech (even if you are the most nervous you have ever been)… then it’s your team mates turn, same thing… then table topics (in loud voices) and ask those around you to join in… then another speech.
- How cool would that be? We may even get coverage on the news if we did it all over for the entire week. Especially if we kinda mentioned it to them
