Summary Report on North Southern Division 2nd Round Training
Things I thought worked well
- We had a separate 1 hour for Presidents & VPEs
- A combined session for
- VPM & VPPR
- Sec & treas
- SAA & Meeting roles
- A combined session for
- We had an ‘After Gold’ session. None with ACG came, but this was mainly made up of DTMs. The action that came from that session was a survey that went out to 24 S/D DTMs, asking them what possibilities (16) they might be interested in. We received back 9 positive replies. Regular news letters will now go out to those 9 under the umbrella of “Bridging Gaps Road-Show”
- Each session was introduced by a current Area Gov.
- We felt it was a great idea to give many different people an opportunity of being a trainer, (A few were 1st. Timers) as we believe that this helps add more passionate leaders. Because of this we were able to have more than 4 Toastmasters on standby as trainers. The morning of the training I got a phone call from one trainer who said they could not make it. We had no trouble putting in a replacement with one hours notice.
Improvements
- We made the mistake of having a separate Area Governors session at the same time as 2 other sessions: this was a great mistake as only a very few went to it. An improvement would be to have this as a plenary session, so no one feels ‘targetted’!.
- Our lunch went for one hour: 45 minutes would have been plenty. Also, lunch cost $12 per head – keeping this down to $5 per head would have been better. We had a caterer, and had to give numbers in a few days before hand. I think it would be better to: not have a caterer, and 1 person go shopping an hour before lunch to get some food, 1-3 people prepare the food , and have people make their own sandwich; or have something like a sausage sizzle.
